Running requires community.

Hand out race-number bibs and T-shirts to runners, answer visitors’ questions about Athens, help at the Classic City Marathon merchandise sales booth, and many other options.

Race day volunteers help at the starting line, at the finish line, inside the Post-Race Celebrations Area, or along the course. You might provide runners with water or PowerAde, point the right way to keep runners on the course, hand out medals, or join our Zero-Waste Team!

Thank you for your expertise! A marathon needs physicians, PAs, physical therapists, athletic trainers, massage therapists, nurses, health educators, and other professionals from almost any health-related field. If your day does not start until after your noon-o’clock coffee, we need you on the Clean-Up Team! Help us make sure we leave the streets and greenways of Athens cleaner than we found them.

Your main job is to cheer! Cheer Zones provide energy and good vibes to runners, visitors, and the Athens community on race day. Bring your group’s banners, your Bluetooth speakers, some silly inspirational signs, and definitely a cowbell or two!

Pacers guide runners through the course at a specific goal pace, providing encouragement and information about the course along the way. It’s a great way to share your love of running in Athens — and if you run as a pacer, your registration fee is covered! Donations are always a much-appreciated form of support for the Classic City Marathon. Our organization is a 503(c) nonprofit, which means your donation is tax-deductible to the extent allowable by law for your individual tax circumstances. Gifts can be made electronically through RunSignUp.
